Jim Barker New Argo Coach

Well, at least there's some real football news today.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl.../argos_barker/

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not.

Too bad he's never coached a real football team before

Bob Nicholson was President of the Argos in 1999 and of course is President now.

The GM who hired Barker to replace Matthews in 1999.......was Eric Tillman.

Tillman and Nicholson are very close friends.

A reunion in the horizon???????

Surprise! Marshall will still be available when we need a head coach.

If John Murphy is not added to our scouting staff ....he will most probably return to Calgary.

I seriously doubt this move will serve to increase the value of their "stocks".

Might not be a bad move actually. He has been a decently successful head coach in the CFL before, plus he can weigh in on player personnel decisions. The Argos don't need a rookie head coach right now, they need an experienced guy that knows how to do it right.

I think they should've hired Doug Berry.

Berry is a pretty decent coach. Maybe he will come here and take Wylie's place.

He coached the Stamps back in the 90's. He's a good football guy. Sort of surprized he wanted back in coaching.

He made us respectable again, the Daley era was terrible. I think he could do the same thing for the Argonots

Tillman is likely already working for the Argos in the background.

Barker and Berry worked together in Montreal I think.

Berry might have a chance to be the OC.

Barker is a good signing - a strong offensive minded coach - a very accomplished recruiter

If the Riders had their crap together we could have had Murphy locked up by now - but because we move like molasses now Cal will have the inside track on him

inaction kills -
