New Marty York article...
Take it for what it's worth...

Michael (Pinball) Clemons, arguably the most popular figure in Toronto’s sports history, is likely out as the Argonauts’ CEO, sources tell Metro.
Clemons, they say, might remain with the Argos in a front-office and/or ambassador capacity but his agent, Gil Scott, isn’t sure.
“I really don’t know what’s going on with Pinball,” Scott said. “I can’t get a straight answer.”
Neither Clemons nor Argos co-owners Howard Sokolowski and David Cynamon could be reached by Metro yesterday. General manager Adam Rita was contacted at the Senior Bowl site in Alabama, where he is scouting, but his cell phone disconnected after he was asked about Clemons and it went straight into voice mail the rest of the afternoon.
While Clemons may be mulling over a non-executive offer from the Argos, the sources say ownership is close to hiring a new CEO.
Clemons, 44, became the Argos’ head coach during the 2000 season after a legendary playing career in Toronto that started in 1989 and landed him in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
He finished with a coaching record of 68-55-1 and led the Argos to the Grey Cup championship in 2004. He was appointed CEO before the 2008 season and hired his defensive co-ordinator, Rich Stubler, as his head-coaching successor. He also was responsible for trading for quarterback Kerry Joseph, who was chosen the CFL’s top player with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2007.
Both Stubler and Joseph flopped. Clemons fired Stubler in midseason and replaced him with Don Matthews, who went 0-8. The Argos finished 4-14 and out of the playoffs. Sokolowski and Cynamon, unhappy with Clemons’ CEO performance, offered him the chance to return as head coach but he refused, sources said.
Last week, when the Argos hired ex-NFL assistant Bart Andrus, Clemons wasn’t consulted and didn’t attend the news conference that introduced the team’s newest head coach.
• Rita, incidentally, tried to influence Andrus to hire longtime CFL coach Dave Ritchie as the Argos’ defensive co-ordinator because of his Canadian experience, but sources suggest Andrus is choosing instead to hire a friend from the NFL.

Aside from the Pinball situation, I find it interesting that Andrus doesn't want to bring in Dave Ritchie. This could mean that Ritchie is headed to Saskatchewan.
I hope this just happens to be the one time Marty York is right.

I have to say, Marty York aside, that I found it very odd that Bart Andrus was not introduced to Pinball not only at his press conference when he came aboard to be coach, but even later. Everyone else was there but not Pinball.

I promised I would never read a Marty York column again, but Pinball the most popular figure in TO sports history. WOW!!! That's as far as I got into the artcile, and couldn't read anymore. I guess I should have kept my promise.

This isn't a surprise. Did you see Pinball's press statement about the hiring:

Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons (CEO, Toronto Argonauts)
“I am so proud of Adam Rita and his staff for their exhaustive and diligent search for the newest head coach of the oldest professional football franchise in North America. Adam has been an integral part of the resurgence of the Toronto Argonauts helping to return the Grey Cup to Toronto for a record 15th time in 2004. Now, as we enter a new era in Toronto Argonaut football, he has secured a coach with indisputable football DNA. Thank you to our committed, dedicated and passionate owners for their incomparable support as we embark on our latest quest for playoff glory. We are excited to support coach Andrus, a consummate X & O’s guy, in any way we can as he assimilates to the best football on earth - Canadian football.“

The guy is making less and less sense every time I hear from him. It sounds like crazy, nervous gibberish. Like some of his recent appearance on OTR.
I think it might be good for him to take a break from the Argos and the CEO job for a while. He's a great speaker and has built up much goodwill as a Toronto sports legend. But his last little while with the Argos hasn't done a lot positive for him.

Just for your information. Pinball was not at the news conference for the simple fact he and the family are on a vacation. I know this for a fact!

I'm trying to think of a more popular Toronto sports figure, and I can't really think of anyone who would be bigger than Pinball. Maybe Wendel Clark?

He's my favourite Leaf, that's for sure.
I would say by the reactions to his last stint with the Leafs, he's probably not the most popular Leaf ever. Same goes for Sundin after recent events.
