Darian Durant

Well, I've made +'ve statements about this guy before (last season), and I think he is the No.2 now for sure. I like what one of us said in another thread, he ""managed"" the game. He looked pretty poised, he was there with KJ and Marcus last season under Kent's guidance. He knows the offence and the guys running the routes.

I'm not saying he's bona fida, but all around, he looked better than Jyles. Of course, the mood was different for the offence in the 1st when they saw Flick go down. So that, and some halftime adjustments, may have made Jyles look worse than he is.

Should be an interesting topic this week.

Durant would have done even better if the offensive line had held up better - the pressure was very hard on him and Jyles. Durant showed he can make good decisions when he has a little bit of time. The O-line needs to be better.

Yes, our o-line was very week in the second half. DD was poised for an inexperienced QB, the dump pass to Cates on the blitz was a very smart descision. I liked what I saw from him. I still don't know why Jyles was #2 in the first place.

Durant looked pretty darn good out there. He didn't get rattled, was loose and having fun. I wouldn't mind giving him the next couple starts.

The O-line did look flat, especially in the first half. But they were probably a little worn out from the Bc pressure and the pocket-protection, being that we were pass happy there for a while. That TSN Forde guy had it right at haltime, ya gotta use the running game/Cates. As we saw, a balanced attack wins ballgames (well that, and a stellar defence!). And a great lesson in perseverence too. Sometimes you gotta play ugly games just to see what you're made of.

To me, he looked very nervous to start with, then settled in as the game progressed. He also avoided the mistakes that Jyles made, forcing the ball down field.

I saw Jyles with the "Deer in the Head-Lights Look" and then I saw a Young gun looking confident.

When is the last time we won a big game with a young gun? 1987 against Hamilton with a rookie Austin, that's it.

Durant is a natural, enjoy the next 2 or 3 weeks.

I believe he had Wake in his face on the play so he couldn't see Fantuz break off the route...Not all his fault...

This win tonight takes a lot of pressure off Darian for the game next week. He's got the brains and talent to excel. And one heck of an excellent coaching staff behind him.

No more pressure than playing the University of Florida or University of georgia.

Relax man.

Play a conservitive game like we did in the second half and we should be fine.

BSD, we don't usually agree when it comes to QB's, but I'm with you 100% on this. I've been waiting to see DD for a while now, I just have a good feeling about him, and he reminds me of another DD qb only more athletic.

Did you see him run tonight, he's fast, not super fast, but he's no slouch.

Don't forget Rocky Butler on Labour Day a few years back.

Hamilton has a few weapons, but it ain't their defence! So I wouldn't be worried about playing too conservative on offence.

To me. Durant looked better than Butler that night, but hey, it doesn't matter, Durant is our future now and he is "Big Time".

Fantuz never broke off his route, the defender just never let him get behind him, at no point was he open deep, Jyles just shouldn't have thrown that ball to him.

Agreed, I just hope that we never have to see Jyles play again. The guy is just lost, he doesn't have the mental ability to play the game.

I was not impressed with January at all this game, saw Cam Wake blow by him way too many times. The O-line really needs to pick it up, luckily Hamilton doesn't have anywhere near as good of a D-line as BC.
