Rob Lazeo and a conditional draft pick for Cates is what Sportnset.ca is saying

Rob Lazeo and a pick for Cates, ET must not be happy with the running backs

I guess Austin is not happy with his current running game, but I don't much like the move. Lazeo was a versatile O-lineman, he will be missed. I would rather have brought in Ranek for free than make this move.

They must be happy with Parenteau to make this move.

Priced still seems to steep to me. A draft pick as well. Hopefully the condition is, we win the Grey Cup and they get the draft pick, that I could live with. Still think Lazeo is worth more than many in Riderville give him credit.

Edmonton has no good runningbacks... so IMO if Ranek was looking any good they would have kept him. Lazeo is a good versatile player but we'll be al right

Very interesting move to give up Lazeo. Is Cates worth it? So it will be interesting to see who gets dumped. Do the 'Riders have a certain amount of "free time" before they announce what they will do with Cates? Does this mean someone like Best moves onto the 42 man roster?

I think we need to look at what we got instead of what we gave up. Wes Cates could be a big player for us. I was less then pleased with our running game last night. This could be a big deal for us.

Someone should tell Tillman about the rule of thumb that if you give up a non-import, you get one in return. He gave up 2 NI's for an import.
Thanks for the years of service, Laz.

Agreed, any improvement in the running game is good from last night, besides, we haven't even seen how Childs will play in the regular season yet. They can challenge eachoterh to play better

An indication of the youth movement on our offensive line.
I think we need to see all the roster changes, right up to the 29th before you can judge this in isolation.
That said, in isolation, it does seem a a tad expensive, particularly when both teams might have made these pickups next week for free...

Tillman has done quite well in acquiring Canadian Talent. I think that Wes Cates can do more for the Riders on the field than Lazeo can do on the bench.
Just my 2 cents.

Of course on the other hand, better to have Lazeo and not need him than need him and not have him.

Wes Cates is very underated. For his size (6' 215lbs), he is very fast, catches the ball well out of the backfield and was the Stamps best special teams player. He was always one of the players on the Stamps that scared me. I can't remember which game it was last year, but he turned a swing pass into about an 80 yard touchdown down the sidelines. The only better acceleration I saw in the CFL was from Kenton Keith. His only problem was that he had to play behind Joffrey Reynolds. I predict that this will turn into a very good trade for us.

He had success in limited opportunities last year. I'm very curious to see what he can do.

We also need a running back...especially after seeing last night's game. Calgary's D-line isn't exactly stellar. Too often the Riders made it "close" to the endzone, only to come up short...that needs to be fixed.

i dont like it. But I think this is another one of Tillman's "we'll realize later why he gets paid the money he does" moves!
