One thing I noticed that is working is whatever tags are on the Buy and Sell forum, no longer gets eaten as an ad by Kaspersky. The old Classifieds section, I never could figure out how to get my Ad blocker to allow me to view it. So that is working for me, whether or not it is something that is meant to be in this thread.

Well you must have a lot of false confidence as everyone is supposed to see this so the community can help get things where they are supposed to be.

These conversation chains when quoting posts is a great feature that should eliminate excessive scrolling when trying to weed past the bitter arguments. Thumbs up for implementing this.

Edit: Doesn't look like my quoted post rolled up to the original comment. Maybe a feature only implemented in main forum?
Edit 2: I'm just an idiot. People are using the "Comment" button instead of the "Quote". I like this, I hope people use the comment button.

Is this visual appearance just temporary while the rest of the site gets restored? It looks like it's from a decade ago.

One thing I did notice that's an improvement so far (IMO) is the way the PM's work in that they create a text like conversation thread.

The LIKE button functions, unlike the old forum where you couldn't even find the LIKE button. Well done!

I am staying logged in on my iPhone! I could never seem to be able to get that to work with the old site. I am quite happy about this.

I think that is the resulte of the upgraded version. I don't think it was there on the old one. That was a 10 year old or so version of the software. Short story, Chaps customized this place a lot...not a crticiism but a tribute to his skills. That mean updates were not easy to do. One change being done now for things is Red Rocket will try and make it as "idiot proof" as posible using vbulletin's standard features, making it possible for me to do more. "Teach a man to fish" and so forth

Businesses do this too. Forzani (Sportchek) had a version of JDEdwards that was built in the stone age with green screens. They customized the hell out of it, and they even went to the owners of the product and bought 2 developers to join sportchek to help with the customizes, and did that for years. The reasoning was they didn't want to be vanilla and be like everyone else, they wanted to have things done to the system that could fit their business needs.

As a result they couldn't do upgrades or patches as it broke the application or broke their customizations. So, they were left like that for close to 20 years.

Then one day, Enron happened and the resulting compliance for SOX controls. Because they are publicly traded and accept CC payments, they were forced to go through an upgrade. I don't think it was much of an upgrade as more of a wholesale replacement.

But, the end result was, they were forced to go "vanilla" going forward for JDE, except for bits that can be done through the JDE interface. At least now they can be patched and stay current with whatever version JDE puts out. And the big one is the potentially pass the SOX audits which they couldn't even come close to passing before, and was causing concerns for Moneris and any CC transactions. I heard rumours that we might have lost the ability to process credit cards, which would've been funny to see stores scramble trying to make sales on cash alone (not sure if debit was affected).

There are a lot of things going right, and a lot of great features in the new system. Kudos to the team that got this all running smoothly.

In my working days, usability was key. People don't visit a site to ooh and aah over the flashy features. All they want is to perform tasks easily. Our new site meets that need very well.

I really like the "working" popup. It's good to know when we spoiled buggers get too impatient.
