Hey Greenforever, if you're going to try one more time to inject politics into this thread, you'll be infracted. You've tried twice now and you're wasting the mods time.

    Knock it off.

Fair enough. I have a different opinion of the man, but I'll leave it alone.

And then somehow, he ends up coaching with the Als, and then ultimately being hired as GM.

Seriously, the only bright spot in this guys post playing career was being the STC here in 2009, but even that was tarnished over the whole 13th man incident.

His combined record as a coach/GM is 90-160-1. I think he has maybe 3-4 winning seasons since he started coaching in 2001.

I can't speak for others, but it just boggles my mind how this guy manages to not only stick around, but continue to get promoted in this league.
The Peter Principle personified. Actually, no, he is well beyond his level of competence.

Is The Kavis Reed Foundation paying you to say this?

Good summary by Jmdirk. IIRC even his 2009 season on a whole with the Riders was not a success. I seem to remember us being unsatisfied with our special teams during the year. The big return by Armstead in the West Final was a pleasant anomaly.

Sounds pretty promising. 3 local groups interested. This thread title may have to be changed soon. Looks like the Wetenhall's have the franchise on the block.

Richard Speer was interested previously and supposedly put in an offer a couple of years ago, so I wonder if there's still interest there. Sounds like Eirc Lapoine has a group that's interested. And, IIRC the Molsons had some interest previously, but only as a minority partner. I'd love to see the Saputo's have some interest, and had heard in the past that they were to a degree, but they're supposedly losing over $10 million annually on the Impact, so I'm not so sure they want to take on another money loser.

Interesting times in Montreal right now.

The fact that Maciocia is always touted as some savior is hilarious IMO.

Some translated tweets via Google translate:
1/2 Alouettes folder: Éric Lapointe is clearly a name to remember. Former player, businessman, good network. He approached the team two years ago. A group that included Louis Lemay (Lemay architecture) and other Quebec businessmen.

2/2 Another name to remember: Louis Morissette @ ZeMorissette . Amateur sports and football, he would be a great asset in the group Lapointe to promote the team and enhance the entertainment of the organization

Eric Lapointe confirms that his group tried to acquire the team 2 years ago and is always open to this possibility. Several people have contacted him in the last hours to show interest! Confident that Quebec Inc. has all that is needed for this revival.

A local group would have made an offer to Wetenhall 2 years ago. The interest of the owners was not there at the time but the current situation of the team would have changed the situation. The team's debts represent an obstacle to the process. More details this afternoon @ LesPartants
