Here's the English translation. Lots of cannabis and tax haven talk.

I'd hold off if part of the down payment was in magic beans. Starke needs to show the money, prove he has the the actual net worth and cold-hard-cash to support the Als and not drag the league down.

Would Ambrosie have the balls to make Starke post a bond with enough funds to run the Als for a year upfront?

Namaste is one that went from close to $3 a few months ago and now sitting around the 70 cent mark.

That will be an interesting point to follow.

Part of the point of a franchise fee

                  Nope

a few days ago he stated ownership had not contacted him.

that's 2 people who have said they wanted to buy the Als this year and were never called back

a couple friends via the wife, who are big into the Als and live there, despise the idea of Starke ownership and say it seems a wide sentiment. Seems a bit odd considering who he wants to involve, son of a previous well liked pres of club

the bolded , when talking a significant amount of money I would think the seller would do some due diligence in that area , was only thinking beggars can't be to choosy .

                    • True that beggars can't be choosy. But this is not quite the same thing as selling your house. (Referencing the earlier post.) At least, from the league's point of view it's not the same.

Bob Wettenhal might be perfectly happy to pocket the cash and walk away from the Al's, but Ambrosie and the CFL have to live with the new ownership. I think the league should be very careful about letting this guy Starke into the family. Even if they ask for a one year performance bond or a big fat franchise fee that would not be enough to make me feel good about this potential new owner.

Although I'm guessing that any request for a cash surety would make this guy Starke fade away pretty fast. If he actually has the kind of cash that he claims to have (which I doubt), he probably didn't get it by guaranteeing performance or following through on promises. Reading between the lines of that LaPresse article, Starke seems to be a Pump and Dump specialist.

Taking in a new partner shouldn't be done out of desperation. That's how we end up with Gliebermans/Chens/Pezims/Feteriks... the list goes on and on.

I have very little confidence in how this will be handled and even less confidence in the interested group. I get the feeling he is canvassing other people’s money and he has not much of his own on the line.

                            Dear CBA:

The bad news is the CFL will not be offering a significant increase to the SMS or providing an enhanced health benefit package.

However the good news is you will be helping to ensure your brothers in Montreal get paid.

                            Signed,

                            Randy Ambrosie
