he was never drafted so he's a FA. Most Americans playing in the CFL were undrafted FAs.

You cannot sign an NFL contract unless you declare you are eligible for the draft. Once the draft happens and if you aren't picked, only then are you an undrafted FA.

if you not drafted when you are eligible for the draft you are a free agent. Junior year players can opt out and make themselves eligible for the draft and if they aren't drafted they are free agents. Seniors that aren't drafted are free agents. what is your point?

Correct. The CFL and AAFL are not on this guy's radar at all full stop.

have you ever stopped to think that MAYBE, just maybe this kid also wants to finish his degree at school? Maybe buckle down for the next two years and get his classes done?

Seems like the dumbest idea to come to the CFL.
Also where is the evidence that he has financial need?

Yep, you know it's a long offseason when this notion has hit page 6

my prediction he plays one more year and decides to sit out his junior year. He will follow the Bosa precedent . The proposed Pacific Coast league designed for players not eligible for the draft and will be able sign endorsement contracts, receive salaries and get paid tuition will be interesting to watch. If Lawrence has a blowout season in 2019 and wins the Heisman he is probably able to sign an endorsement contract equal or better than Mayfields. The league has attracted some deep pocketed investors and some impressive coaches. This league has modified the rules to minimize injuries and will provide insurance coverage. The focus will be on skill development and making players NFL ready. This new league is causing some concern for the NCAA and it should. They have making big time money at the expense of players who are paid nothing and aren't permitted receive any renumeration from endorsements.

Lawrence is very much a devoted person of his faith obviously brought up in a religious church-going household. I think CRF read the same thing I'd read yesterday. The very first thing that came to my mind was that he sounds similar to Tebow. If Lawrence was told he had to make a choice between church and football he would drop football in a heartbeat.

I don't know either of them personally. My comment was based solely on the idea that this kid is the latest college QB star who's definitely going to tear up the NFL.
