Some handy CFL stat related links:

http://connectlive.cfl.ca/schedule - A cleaner look at the schedule (IMO) and better access to game stats and books

https://www.cfl.ca/game-stats-and-recaps/ - One stop shopping for notes and highlights on every game. Very handy link if you want to flip to a few games quick.

The stat was way more meaningful then the sacks stat when trying to determine the ability of your D-line

Here's a site for calculating odds of making playoffs, and the inpacts of a win / loss does within the division and league. Pretty interesting stuff.

I spoke to Steve Daniel at BC Place on Saturday and he went over some of the issues with this stat.
          • There are 9 stats crews and there are more than 9 interpretations of what a QB Pressure is
          • There is a noticeable home team bias for this stat (sometimes 3:1 or 4:1)
          • TSN scores & announces pressures during games. TSN is much more liberal at awarding QB Pressures than the CFL (misleads fans)
          • Time consuming to audit. Rewinding video to review a play for a QB Pressure can result in the audit process falling behind by a play or two.
One option being considered is to scrap the QB Pressure stat.

I really hope that is not the outcome. This seems to be a popular stat. IMO even if it is skewed for home team bias, they play equal games at home so it should roughly balance. CFL needs to do more with their stats as it is, so losing something like this would really suck. Worst case, why not just ask TSN if they can adopt their numbers, even if they are liberal. I mean, this stat should be not a lot worse that scoring "targets."

            Thanks for the info though.

I hope that they can come up with 5 concrete criteria for what it would be considered a pressure
              • When a Defender forces the QB from the pocket and into a scramble
              • When a Defender makes contact with the QB prior or during a throw, resulting in a 'poor' throw
              • When a defender collapses the pocket, not allowing the QB to step into his throw
              • When a defender forces the QB to hurry his throw in order to prevent contact
              • When a defender forces the QB to throw the ball away

Just throwing 5 off the top of my head, likely redundant, but it isn't my job to finalize these lol.

Something interesting from Derek Taylor on QB pressures in our game. Looks like our line really did pick up after the first 2 series....I still think Zach ran into that second sack.

Through 3 weeks there have been 12 challenges, with 4 overturned. 9 of 12 have been on DPI.
so .5 challenges per team per game.

I really dislike that the pressures are gone. It is not an exact metric, but it is still something that should somewhat balance out over the season and gives some perspective on a few things.

Not really a stats page, but I didn't know where else to put this and didn't want to start a new thread on it.

Nice Twitter feed. I think this is something Nik Lewis is getting going. https://twitter.com/talk_lockerroom

Good to know Lauther has the highest average yard per attempt, though with our offense this should be a huge surprise lol

Not only can he not count, but I would think you'd want to highlight the best average in the completion column as opposed to the attempted column. 38.8 is mighty fine.

It is not sorted by that. It is sorted by percent made, which IMO makes sense.

biggest FG average is great, but means the Riders are getting least close in the league when attempting, but that they also have faith in him.

Crapinga is in tough next camp.

I wasn't referring to the sorting, only to the bolding. Odd that they don't bold Lauthers 38.8 yards as the highest average completion.

I feel sorry for Crapigna. He will have a great career with some other team.
