  • Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is on fire!

Huge flames visible through the roof. I'm not sure if it can be saved.

Just sickening, watching that beautiful place burn.

Live video on CNN and both Canadian news networks right now. One would have to think they will spend a lot of money to rebuild it.

I hope they're able to save enough of the structure to allow a rebuild. I fear the whole thing will collapse and not much will be left.

Just saw video of the spire collapsing, probably taking with it most of the interior.

I just read that 12 million people a year visit the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Twice as many as the Eiffel Tower

Now reporting that the entire interior is destroyed. Nothing will be left but the shell.

Yep, it took 100 years to build it originally according to wiki.

Just a tremendous shame. I was looking forward to visiting it on our upcoming trip.

Could take 200 years with todays technology and obstacles.

Glad I toured it about 3 years ago. Immense and beautiful structure.

Thankfully it sounds like no one was hurt, they can rebuild something there Iím sure.

Just heard that it was actually started in the 1100s but not completed til the 1300s. So older than the 650 years I stated earlier.
